How would your peers describe your personality?

They would probably say I care too much about every detail, and that I’m not afraid of a challenge if it means achieving what we set out to do at its fullest potential. 

When did you consider yourself a success? How did this make you feel?

When I complete a project I stop to appreciate how satisfying it is to finish something from start to end. I consider myself a success only when I feel good about the work. When I look at the end result and feel inspired by it. That doesn’t always happen, so when it does, it feels very satisfying.  

What is the biggest challenge you have come across in your career and how did you handle this?

The challenge for me is to know when to stop thinking and worrying about work .  I learned that when I take the time to tune out or let go in my down time, it creates more space in my mind to be creative when I come back to those work related riddles.

What do you do to keep yourself motivated and interested in your work?

I am always striving to learn from my mistakes and do things better the next time around. I think that is what truly motivates me. That and appreciating the creative things I get to do in my job. I also love learning from the people I work with- people who are badass at what they do inspire and motivate me more than anything.

What are you most proud of?

I’m so proud of the custom nail color bar we just opened called ORLY Color Labs! It was a vision we had a couple of years ago and with some real team work we made it into a reality. It was so much fun to design a space that would inspire people to make their own nail color and even name it! It is much more than a custom color bar- it is a place for community to come together to share their love for nail art, beauty, wellness, and express their unique individual selves.

What inspired you when you were younger?

Music was my first muse and obsession that sent me into dreamlands. After that I was fascinated with the graphic designs and interior spaces of the 60’s and 70’s. When I was a kid, before I knew how to use any design program, I figured out how to create layouts using a Xerox machine. Making art was all I wanted to do.  

What nail color makes you feel most confident?

A bright red with pink undertones in it. It is so lively to look at when I glance at my hands. Currently wearing a color I made for myself at ORLY Color Labs. I named it Crimson Pink.

What is a piece of advice you would give to young women?

Try everything you’re curious about. Be courageous. See life as a blank canvas – don’t be afraid to paint with big strokes.
