Women's History Month 2019 Profile: Carrie English

Carrie English, Director of Sales, North America at ORLY International

How would your peers describe your personality?

High energy with a bit of sass.

When did you consider yourself a success? How did this make you feel?

I would say once I completed my degree at UCSB.  It was the first time I completed a true goal that was not apart of my parents plan.  As I have grown in my personal like and career I have always tried to celebrate small successes everyday. It keeps me motivated.

What is the biggest challenge you have come across in your career and how did you handle this?

I think the biggest challenge for me was dealing with bosses and coworkers that don't work as a team. Many times bosses are driven by Ego and team member feed off of that.  I believe the healthiest organizations operate as a team. I have taken those experiences and transition that into my current role. I feel it's important to get team members opinions before you make a final decision.

What do you do to keep yourself motivated and interested in your work?

I love my job!  I am so fortunate to work for ORLY.  Working for a family business keeps me motivated, but also have the best nail line on the market helps!

What are you most proud of?

I'm most proud of my family of course!

What inspired you when you were younger?

My mother.  She was and still is the strongest person I know.

What nail color makes you feel most confident?

I love Breathable Treatment+Color De-Stressed Denim

What is a piece of advice you would give to young women?

Don't let anyone tell you can't do something.  Always challenge and speak up, but in a articulate educated position.
