Women's History Month 2019 Profile: Holly Falcone

Holly Falcone, Editorial Manicurist & Color Designer

How would your peers describe your personality?

Witty and bubbly.

When did you consider yourself a success? How did this make you feel?

Success is a work in progress! As my career grows I have some “pinch me”
Moments, like doing NYFW with ORLY or working with an incredible team, and I realize it’s more than just luck! It’s hard work. I’m lucky to be successful.

What is the biggest challenge you have come across in your career and how did you handle this?

I love a challenge! Whether I conquer it or not, I know that I’m going to learn something. I’d say the biggest challenge is making a client feel comfortable. As a set manicurist, I work in very close quarters with a team and the client, especially if it’s a celebrity. It’s important to find a balance between gauging other personalities and bringing good energy into the room. That applies to the creative side of my career as well when I collaborate with a brand, designer, or creative on a shoot. I want them to feel heard and their vision to be represented and I’m challenged to meet them in the middle. The end result is very rewarding!

What do you do to keep yourself motivated and interested in your work?

I try to set long goals for myself to work towards so that I’m always hungry. I also always try to pay attention to my surroundings and stay inspired!

What are you most proud of?

Believing in myself.

What inspired you when you were younger?

So much but mostly the fashion industry. My mind was blown by the variety of designers translating themes, moods, and inspiration into beautiful clothes and full looks for fashion shows and shoots. Let’s not forget about establishing some iconic looks like Versace, YSL, and Todd Oldham! Also glamorous icons like Barbie and Dolly Parton taught me so much about personal style and still do to this day!

What nail color makes you feel most confident?

Love My Nails from the ORLY Breathable line.

What is a piece of advice you would give to young women?

Set short and long goals and most importantly, ask questions!!!!!
